Ready or not, fall is here and we have plenty of reasons to be excited. Pumpkin spice lattes, sweaters, cool weather, caramel apples, apple cider, pie - we could continue, but we’ll spare you. I don’t know about you, but we picked up on a common theme in our list: food.
Fall brings out some of the yummiest treats, that pair well with activities. For instance, apple picking season is already here, but only lasts through October. Looks like you just found your weekend activity. Head on over to Julian to pick some delicious apples. Take a couple bags home - one for snacking and one for a pie.
Now that you have your freshly picked apples. Let’s bake!
9 inch unbaked pie crust
8 medium size apples, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
¾ white sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
⅛ teaspoon nutmeg
½ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons of butter
This recipe is based off of the Better Homes and Gardens CookBook that has survived in our kitchen for nearly 30 years. It is a must for this upcoming fall season. We hope you enjoy making it, as much as you enjoy eating it. Good luck and happy fall.
